Grandma's Popcorn Balls


2 cups sugar
2/3 cups water
2/3 light corn syrup
2 cubes butter
approx 2/3 cups popcorn unpopped
food coloring if desired

1. Pop popcorn. With hands, scoop into another bowl with plenty of room. Using your hands helps to remove all unpopped kernels
2. In a 4 quart pan combine ingredients. Cook over medium heat until mixture reaches soft ball stage on a candy thermometer. Remove from heat, add food coloring if using. Pour over popcorn and mix well. Using a sandwich bag like a glove, form into balls. Wrap well in plastic wrap.
