It turns out….

… that if you try and grill a pizza on a pizza stone, the stone will break. Boo.

But on a good note, the pizza grilled up great!

We’re trying to think of something really cool and fun and super cheap to do tonight, any ideas?

This might give away my non-cool status, but if you have a drive n theater near you, you could pack a picnic and go see a movie or have an in-house picnic and rent a movie? Or how about bowling? Friday’s at my local alley usually mean glow-in-the-dark bumper bowling with kid-size balls (small enough that your little ones could play too)
    Yes, I’m a dork. :-)

Mmm, grilled pizza. It’s too bad about the pizza stone, though.

I like spending my time browsing craft stores, but that can be heartbreaking when you’re on a budget :).

I don’t know if you’re close to any farms or orchards, but it’s berry season and it might be fun to head to one of those places where you can pick your own fruit.

Our old pizza stone broke but that’s because Dan dropped it in the sink when he was trying to wash it. A really inexpensive alternative that we now use is a big terra cotta flower pot saucer. Just buy the largest size your oven will hold from the hardware store. We just leave ours in the over all the time. Works like a charm.

The thing about pizza stones (and terra cotta trays) is that you’re supposed to break them in slowly. When you first get the stone, heat it a few times very gradually (starting out in a cold oven) and then cool it back down. They shatter when you introduce them to high temps too quickly. After it’s broken in, you should have no problem.
    Good luck!

I want to let you know that I have been using blingo since you suggested it and I already one a free movie ticket! Yeah! Also, I have made grilled pizza before and just brushed some oil on the crust and put it right on the grill. It worked great!
